There’s nothing like the pure taste of non-dairy milk in the morning to kick start your day, knowing that you’re helping your body and wallet at the same time. Store-bought nut milk costs more and contains non-organic ingredients such as additives to extend its shelf life. With this recipe, you’ll have no need to go back to the store for anything other than your homemade ingredients. Use your homemade nut milk as a fresh breakfast drink, natural coffee creamer, to pour over cereal, and more! Get as creative as you’d like.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Materials:

  • A blender (preferably high speed like a Vitamix)
  • A mesh nut bag for straining
  • Mixing bowl

Ingredients:

  • Almonds
  • Water

Extra Add Ons:

  • Salt
  • Dates (for sweetness)
  • Vanilla
  • Coconut
  • Cacao Powder
  • Berries (for flavor variety)

Soak almonds in water overnight in the refrigerator. After 12 hours, drain the water then add the almonds and some fresh water to the blender, along with any additional add-ons for flavor such as vanilla, berries, cacao powder, dates, or salt. Mix and match it up!  Dates add sweetness and berries add extra flavor. You can use blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and more – pick your favorite!

Blend the mix for 1-2 minutes. Pour the milk through the mesh nut bag into a mixing bowl. Squeeze mesh nut bag to extract all of the liquid. 

Congrats! You’ve just made a batch of homemade nut milk. This plant-based, organic milk will last about 4-5 days. We recommend storing your homemade nut milk in a mason jar for maximum freshness.
