The mood you have in the morning is the mood you carry with you for the rest of the day. It’s important to put in some positive spin.

Your parents were right. Setting and keeping a solid routine helps you to start the day feeling good. It can make a significant difference in how you experience not only each day,  but each week, month, and even your year. Whether it’s a quick morning meditation or a tried-and-true breakfast go-to, taking the guesswork out of the AM and making space for yourself before diving into the to-do list will make everything that comes next easier to handle.

1. Miranda Kerr

Ex-Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda Kerr is a Certified Health Coach. She studied Nutrition and Health Psychology at the Academy of Natural Living and is also the founder and CEO of Kora Organics, a certified organic and cruelty-free skincare brand. On her Kora Organic’s Blog, Kerr says her morning routine generally includes:

  • Waking up around 5:30 AM
  • Meditating
  • Dry body brushing
  • Showering or skincare and a facial massage
  • Aromatherapy
  • Celery juice on an empty stomach
  • A smoothie containing blueberries, spirulina, barley grass, orange juice, bananas, and more!

AM tip: Many studies have shown a connection between mindfulness meditation and as a result it reduced stress.

2. Arnold Schwarzenegger

At 72-years-old, professional bodybuilder, actor, environmentalist, businessman, and formerly politician Arnold Schwarzenegger knows a thing or two about the importance of a healthy routine. In a recent interview with Men’s Health, he says his morning routine consists of the following:

  • Waking up at 5 AM
  • Drinking coffee
  • Feeding his pets
  • Reading the newspaper
  • Checking emails
  • Riding his bike
  • Working out at the gym (45 mins to 1 hour)  

AM tip: Studies recommended exercising for 45-mins, three or more days per week.

3. Mary Helen Bowers

Ballet Beautiful founder and former New York City Ballet dancer Mary Helen Bowers has a few practices that she likes to include in her morning routine. She recently told The New Potato and The Cut that her simple morning routine typically includes the following:

  • Water, coffee, and oatmeal for breakfast “with fresh fruit and nuts”
  • A morning workout
  • A 6-step skincare routine

4. Boho Beautiful’s Juliana and Mark

These popular yoga/wanderlust YouTubers say their motto is “win the morning, win the day.” In a 2018 video, the couple share that their morning usually includes the following:

  • Waking up around 6 – 7 AM
  • Making their bed
  • Drinking lemon water with cayenne pepper
  • Burning sage or palo santo
  • Yoga (45mins – 1.5 hours)
  • Meditating
  • Taking vitamins & supplements
  • Walking their dog
  • Planning out their day while sipping a hot drink

AM tip: A hot cup of lemon water helps you to start your day off with a dose of vitamin C and may help with digestion.

5. Megan Roup

Celebrity fitness instructor Megan Roup is the founder of The Sculpt Society – a dance-based fitness program designed for women. In an interview with Allure, Roup says that her day usually begins with:

  • Waking up at 7 – 7:30 AM
  • Drinking lemon water
  • Drinking coffee
  • Meditating
  • Skincare, makeup, and hairstyling
  • Filming a live workout
  • Breakfast (granola, yogurt, almond milk, and almond butter)

AM tip: Coffee is potentially beneficial (when consumed responsibly) due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

6. Julianne Hough

Professional dancer and actress Julianne Hough is also the founder of Kinrgy – a mind/body fitness brand “inspired by the elements”. In a recent interview with Elle, Hough describes her detailed morning routine, beginning with:

  • Putting on music
  • Drinking lemon water
  • Breathing exercises
  • Practicing gratitude
  • Meditation
  • Journaling
  • Positive self-talk while looking in the mirror
  • Drinking green juice
  • Running in nature
  • A Kinrgy workout
  • A breakfast smoothie

Actress Jessica Alba is also the founder of The Honest Company, a wellness brand selling beauty, baby, and cleaning products. In an interview with Self, she takes viewers through her straight-forward morning routine of:

  • Waking up at 5:15 AM for a hot yoga class or workout
  • Drinking a strong coffee with coconut oil

8. Terry Crews

In a 2018 interview with Vanity Fair, actor, bodybuilder, and former professional football player Terry Crews lists the following as being part of his morning routine:

  • Taking vitamins
  • Drinking amino acid water
  • Working out while listening to an audiobook
  • Showering, shaving, and grooming
  • Eating his first meal at 2 PM

9. Teresa Palmer
